Candy ChallengeThe Science Place had a wonderful Sense of Smell Day with a great attendance of over 1,100 visitors.

Candy Challenge: Visitors got a chance to see what a drastic difference it makes when you try to figure out different flavors of candy without using your sense of smell. It taught them about the connection between taste and smell.

Emotion Lotion

Emotion in Lotion: Visitors got to choose from a variety of scents to create their own lotion. Using the principle of Aroma-Chology, by choosing different scents they made their lotions either soothing or invigorating.

Nosey Neighbors: Everyone got to add their two scents by filling out post it notes listing their favorite and least favorite smells. They were then all posted on the wall for everyone to read.Nosy Neighbors

Other Activities Included:

Science of Smell Show: A PowerPoint presentation coupled with smelling samples taught the audience how the sense of smell works.

Scratch n’ Sniff: Visitors got to learn how scratch n’ sniff items are made as well as take home their own scratch n’ sniff sticker.

What’s That Smell?: Visitors were challenged to name the smells in unmarked bottles.
