The International Fragrance Association (IFRA)
The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) was founded in 1973 to represent the collective interests of the fragrance industry worldwide. The organization has established and seeks to preserve the self-regulatory practices of the international fragrance industry. This occurs through the development and implementation of a Code of Practice and safety standards utilized worldwide with the final objective to protect the consumer and the environment.

The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM)
The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) evaluates and distributes scientific data on the safety assessment of fragrance raw materials found in perfumes, cosmetics, shampoos, creams, detergents, air fresheners, candles and other personal and household products. RIFM’s safety evaluation process is modeled after the National Academy of Sciences Elements of Risk Assessment and Risk Management and all of RIFM’s scientific findings are evaluated by an independent, scientific Expert Panel (REXPAN)—an international group of dermatologists, pathologists, toxicologists and environmental scientists.

Fragrance Materials Association of the United States
The Fragrance Materials Association's primary service to the U.S. fragrance industry involves legislative and regulatory work on the industry's behalf.  Its activities are closely coordinated with those of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), which undertakes scientific reserach to support product safety for the industry worldwide.  In fulfilling its misison for the industry, FMA interacts with government bodies and other organizations on all levels -- state, federal and international.
